The Managing Authority for Algarve Regional Operational Program (CRESC Algarve 2020) provided 300.000 euros for the training of health professionals.
José Carlos Caiado is the new president of the Administração Central do Sistema de Saúde (ACSS) Executive Board, in accordance with the Resolution of the Ministers Council n.º 203/2017, published in the official journal on 28th of December.
The signature of the contractual agreements with hospitals and local health units of the National Health System (NHS) for 2018 were signed at ACSS premises on 28 December. These contracts regulate the provision of healthcare in NHS providers and establish the financing mechanisms for these entities. The hospitals and local health units, integrated in the State Entrepreneurial sector, totalled 4.57 billion euros, + 3.2% more than in 2017.
ACSS published its 2016 annual report, presenting their main outcomes achieved throughout that year.
ACSS will present, on the 17th of November, the final results of the Public Health Initiatives Program - EEA Grants 2009-2014. This event will take place in Lisbon, and includes the presentation and delivery of a publication with the results achieved, as well as the most significant moments.
The number of patients treated in the NHS reached the highest level ever in 2016, with 568,765 surgeries performed, 1,5% more than 2015, and 65,000 more than 2011.
