Palliative Care

The Palliative Care National Network is a network based on an integrated intervention model, which provides for different types of units and teams the provision of palliative care, in cooperation with other hospitals, communities and health resources.

The National Commission of Palliative Care is a body of ACSS (n.º 2 of article 4 of Decree-Law n.º 173/2014 of 19th of November) and is responsible for coordinating the Palliative Care National Network and to propose strategic plans for the development of palliative care, for the approval of the Ministry of Health.

The National Commission of Palliative Care took office on 15th of June, 2016 under Order n.º 7824/2016, of that same date.
